Design is a serious and long-term commitment that requires both innovative thinking and comprehensive technical synthesis. Therefore, architectural design must stem from the material and spiritual needs of contemporary society, paying due respect to the context, culture, and natural conditions of our time. The core of this work lies in excellent design and successful execution. Architecture should emerge from the integration of all elements, including its supporting structure, its enveloping skin, the functions it houses, its impact on the ecological environment, its relationship with urban spaces, the ways it is accessed and perceived, and its role as a place that elevates the collective will and spirit of society.
Since joining TIANHUA in 2010, Mr. Wu Xin has focused his design expertise on residential, office, cultural buildings, and urban regeneration. In the residential sector, he advocates for a strong sense of community experience and high-quality execution in residential architecture. His representative projects include the Knowledge Innovation Community, Ruihong Xincheng, and Greenland Haipo Huangpu Project. In the commercial office building sector, his notable works include the Knowledge Innovation Community, Yangpu German Center, Qingdao Concordia Global Financial Center, and Xintiandi Moon Bay Project. In the cultural domain, he led the design of China's first professional folk music hall, the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra Concert Hall, and collaborated with Jerde on the Shanghai Qiantan 31 Cultural Performing Arts Center. Beyond design practice, he also oversees the company's Academic Committee, leading urban regeneration research initiatives. He contributed to the book "Shanghai Urban Regeneration: Five Strategies," co-published by TIANHUA and Harvard University, and has actively practiced in the field of adaptive reuse and renovation. His key projects in this area include the renovation of Shanghai Changning Maternity and Infant Health Hospital, the redevelopment of Nanjing Road New World Plaza, and the refurbishment of Huaihai Road Shui On Plaza.
